Privacy Policy

Effective November 1, 2026 · Applies to yarkade.com, play.yarkade.com and the games on Yarkade, including Nitro Burst.

The short version: Yarkade is made for kids, so we collect as little as possible. Kids play with a nickname, not their real name or email. We never sell data, never show ads to kids, and use no third-party trackers. A parent's email is only collected when a parent chooses to give it. Parents can ask us to see or delete their child's data at any time.

Who we are

Yarkade is operated by HG Technologies, LLC, a Colorado limited liability company ("we", "us"). Contact: hello@yarkade.com · 13009 S Parker Rd, Ste 355, Parker, CO 80134.

We do not collect children's real names, email addresses, phone numbers, photos, voice, precise location, or contact lists. We do not use advertising identifiers.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

Yarkade is designed for children, so we follow the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. Children can play using only a nickname. We ask that nicknames not be real names, and we do not ask children for personal information. Anything that needs personal information, such as saving a racer across devices or making a purchase, requires a parent or guardian to confirm their own email address first.

Parents and guardians can, at any time: review the information we hold about their child, ask us to delete it, and refuse further collection. Email hello@yarkade.com with the racer name, and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Sparks, play time and parental controls

Each browser gets a random device code, stored on the device. With that code (and no name or email), we keep the device's Sparks, level, streak, badges, which games it played and its best scores, and how many minutes it spent playing, building and on learning games each day. Daily records are kept for 30 days. This powers "My Yarkade" and the daily time limits.

A parent can sign in at /parents with their email and a one-time code, link a child's device with a 6-character code, and set a 4-digit PIN. We store the PIN only in scrambled (hashed) form. The parent chooses time limits, bedtime, which categories of games are allowed, and whether chat, trading, the store and the game builder are on. These settings are stored with the parent's account. Bedtime is checked with the device's clock; the local time is sent with each check and not stored.

The parent page shows each linked device's play, build and learning time, games played, Sparks and streak. "Download data" gives the parent a copy of that device's records. "Delete this kid's data" removes the device's Sparks, progress, time records and leaderboard scores and unlinks it. Like counts are anonymous and stay.

Information stored on your device

We use your browser's local storage (not advertising cookies) to remember the random device code, the leaderboard nickname you picked, the racer you play as, a sign-in code for that racer, your settings (such as sound), recently visited tracks, and, if a parent signed in, the parent's account sign-in. Clearing your browser data removes these.

How we use information

We never sell or rent personal information, never use it for advertising to children, and never build marketing profiles of children.

Who we share with

Only the service providers we need to run Yarkade, and only for that purpose: hosting (Fly.io), domain and DNS (GoDaddy), email delivery for parent messages, and, when real purchases are offered, a payment processor (card details go directly to the processor and are never stored by us). We may also share information if required by law or to protect the safety of users.

Other players can see a racer's nickname, avatar, game stats, leaderboard position and team name.

How long we keep it

Game profiles are kept while they are in use. Profiles that have not been used for 18 months may be deleted. Waitlist emails are kept until launch news is sent or until you unsubscribe. Technical logs are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting. You can ask us to delete information at any time.

Security

Connections are encrypted (HTTPS), data is stored on encrypted disks, and access is limited to the people who run Yarkade. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Purchases

Any purchase requires a parent or guardian with a confirmed email. While Yarkade is in testing, purchase screens are clearly marked as test mode and no money is charged.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above. If a change affects how we use children's information, we will notify parents who have given us their email before the change takes effect.
